A fat bear named Grazer wins “Fat Bear Week” at Katmai National Park in Alaska! With over 70,000 votes for the fattest bear, Grazer beat her opponent for the second year in a row. A bear named Chunk received a hearty 30,000 votes but not close enough to oust the reigning queen.
Fat Bear Week is an annual tradition of the National Park Service and an educational opportunity. Fat Bear Week spotlights bears that have bulked up in the months as winter approaches, an important survival strategy for winter hibernation.
